Pre-owned Rolex Day-Date ref 18238 (1990). The iconic gold Rolex “Presidential” has served as a universal symbol of power and success since coming to market in the 1950s. Part of its immense prestige lies in the fact that Rolex has only ever produced the watch in precious metals. Furthermore, it holds a place in Rolex history as the first mechanical wristwatch to display the day spelled out in full, never abbreviated, and has appeared on countless influential individuals.

Ref. 18238 was an important expression of the Day-Date because it introduced the collection to the caliber 3155 with a Double Quickset for the day and date. This function replaces the need to advance the hands a full 24 hours to adjust either calendar display, a vast improvement over the caliber 3055 with only a Quickset for the date. Impressive movement aside, ref. 18238 is one of the most recognizable iterations of the Day-Date, featuring a gold 36mm waterproof case, a fluted bezel, and a President bracelet with rounded links. A dynamic brown vignette dial contrasts beautifully with the warm gold finish and displays the time with brilliant and baguette-cut diamond hour markers.
