Description: Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600
The pre-owned Rolex Sea-Dweller ref 16600 (2006) is a third-generation model that follows the inaugural ref. 1665 and “Triple Six” ref. 16660. Like its immediate predecessor, the ref. 16600 sports a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, water resistance up to 1,220 meters, and a uni-directional bezel. Later-production Triple Six models featured glossy dials decorated with white gold-trimmed hour markers and matching Mercedes hands, similar to the Rolex for sale here. What makes ref. 16600, particularly collection-worthy, is the upgraded caliber 3135 perpetual movement with a longer power reserve. During its 20-year production run, ref. 16600 featured either Tritium, LumiNova, or Super-LumiNova. The example you see here is a mid-2000s watch with the newer Super-LumiNova. Many collectors gravitate to this model because, unlike the current production Sea-Dweller, it does not sport a Cyclops magnifier over the date and has a slightly more nostalgic aesthetic via the 40mm case and aluminum bezel.
